| Monterey Shootout competitors may
enter more than one competition category.
Advanced Film:
The competitor has shot more than 150 rolls underwater both
wide angle and macro shots are accepted in this category.
Novice Film:
The competitor has shot less than 150 rolls underwater both
wide angle and macro shots are accepted in this category.
Advanced Digital:
The competitor has shot digital more than 1 year OR has shot
more than 150 rolls of film underwater.
Two competition
categories:
1) Traditional - The "traditional" categories allow
for the adjustment of brightness, contrast, color, and sharpness.
Cropping, cloning, and other digital manipulation is not
allowed in the traditional category.
2) Unrestricted - "Unrestricted" categories have
no such rules regarding manipulation, anything goes.
Novice Digital:
The competitor has shot digital less than 1 year AND has
shot less than 150 rolls of film underwater.
Two competition categories:
1) Traditional - The "traditional" categories allow
for the adjustment of brightness, contrast, color, and sharpness.

A 30 second edited video. There is no restriction on editing
process (in camera, non-linear, etc).

between 00:00 – 24:00

Film Entry Deadline:
All competition rolls of film are due to contest officials
by 6:00PM on SATURDAY, AUGUST 14TH BY 6:00PM. Processed
slides can be reviewed and entered into competition between
from 7:00AM – 9:00AM on SUNDAY, AUGUST 15TH at the
MONTEREY CONFERENCE CENTER.
Digital / Video Entry Deadline:
All competition entries are due to contest officials from
7:00AM – 9:00AM on SUNDAY, AUGUST 15TH at the MONTEREY
CONFERENCE CENTER. Video entrants must leave a miniDV or
8mm tape labeled with the contestant name. Digital still
entrants must leave a media card labeled with the contestant
name. Digital still files must follow contest file naming
conventions to qualify for judging.

Digital Still File Naming:
Between each component of the file name, you must have an
underscore. Please note that this is NOT a dash. Use the
shift key to make an incorrect dash (-) into a correct
underscore (_).
Category_yourname_imagenumber.jpg
Please use the following abbreviations
for each category:
AT = Advanced Traditional
AU = Advanced Unrestricted
NT = Novice Traditional
NU = Novice Unrestricted
Example File names:
You will be able to enter three images per category, thus
the files must have a unique name and number. If you have
a very common first and last name, please include your
middle name to avoid conflicts with other contestants.
